Inflection points of real curves: A work of Felix Klein in the light of the theory of singularities of mappings (English)
0 references
The author presents the theorem of Felix Klein on the number of inflexion points of a real curve and the approach of this result using the theory of singularities of mappings. He presents the method of Klein and mentions the objections of Coolidge. The main part of the paper is devoted to the study of the stratification of maps and to their applications to another proof of Klein's result. Finally, there is exposed the method of Viro for proving the result of Klein. This last device is based on the Euler-Poincaré characteristic.
