This paper deals with the problem of existence of the optimal control \(J(\varphi)= \Phi(u(\varphi))\to\min\) of a system \(L(u)=f(x,t;\varphi)\), \((x,t)\in Q\), where \(Q=\Omega\times (0,T)\), \(\Omega\subseteq R^{n}\); \(L: X\to X^{*}\); \(X\) is a reflexive separable Banach space; \(X^{*}\) is the dual space to \(X\); \(u(x,t)\) is the required function; \(\varphi\in U_0\) is a control action. The main result of the paper is the following. Let \(u(x,t;\varphi)\) be a state of the given system; let the functional \(J(\varphi)\) be weakly lower semi-continuous on \(u\) and bounded below; let the set \(U_0\) of admissible controls be bounded, closed and convex in the reflexive Banach space \(U\); let the functional \(f(x,t;\varphi)\) be weakly sequentially continuous on the control \(\varphi\); and let the operator \(L\) be Lipschitz continuous strictly monotonic coercive and weakly sequentially continuous. Then there exists the optimal control of the considered system.
