Solution of linear system roots and their multiplicities (English)
0 references
A method is presented to determine the roots of high-order characteristic equations based on factorization. The method makes use of Newton's identities and can be efficient in finding the poles and their multiplicities from the characteristic polynomial of a linear control system. A fourth-order illustrative example with triple real root is presented. The method is also applicable to the case of complex roots.
