The following theorem is proved: Let \(M\) be the compact oriented isometric immersed surface in 3-space form \(R^3(\kappa)\) with constant mean curvature \(H\), then \(M\) is a topological sphere if and only if \(\kappa+H^2+K=0\). \(M\) is a topological torus if and only if \(\kappa+H^2+K>0\) and \(M\) has genus \(g\) (\(\geq 2\)) if and only if the zero points of \(\kappa+H^2+K\) are \(8(g-1)\), where \(K\) is the Gauss curvature.
