On the degree of simultaneous approximation (English)
0 references
The main result of the paper (Theorem 3) is an estimate for the degree of simultaneous approximation of \(C^r\)-functions \(f\) by a sequence of almost convex operators of order \(r-1\) (in the sense of Knoop and Pottinger) in terms of the classical first and second order moduli of smoothness of \(f\). This result improves earlier results by Gonska (1984) and by Knoop and Pottinger (1976). An application is given for the sequence of Bernstein-Durrmeyer operators.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0968.00041].
