Wave propagation in an elastic nonuniform layer in contact with liquid media. (English)

The authors investigate the problem of wave propagation along the layer of arbitrary inhomogeneous thickness which is placed between the two liquids of different densities. It is assumed that the dilational elastic modulus is an arbitrary function of the thickness coordinate. The problem is solved by the method of power series leading to recurrence relationships for unknown coefficients. The dispersion equation is derived and analysed for some concrete parameters. The phase velocities, wave modes for longitudinal and transverse displacements, shear and longitudinal stresses are analysed in detail. It is shown that different types of layer inhomogeneous can lead to a significant concentration of wave fields either in the central layer part or near the layer boundaries.
