The semilinear Dirichlet problem: NEWLINE\[NEWLINE -\bigtriangleup u(x) + \lambda a(x) u(x)= p(x, u(x)),\quad x\in \Omega,NEWLINE\]NEWLINE NEWLINE\[NEWLINE u(x)=0,\quad x\in \partial \Omega NEWLINE\]NEWLINE is considered. \(\lambda\) is a real parameter, \(a\in C^0(\overline \Omega),\) \(p\) is a sufficiently regular function on \(\overline \Omega \times R.\) NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe purpose of this paper is to generalize some previous results, by taking a nonconstant function \(a\) which can change its sign and with \(P(x,l)=W(x)F(l) (P(x,l)=\int_0^l p(x,s) ds),\) where \(W\) can change the sign and \(F\) has a general behaviour, with a superquadratic growth at infinity.
