Principles for construction of biorthogonal wavelet bases via recursive filters are considered; they make it possible to construct bases generated by odd or even functions different from the Haar function. Multiresolution analysis is defined on Banach spaces, and the theory for wavelet bases is related to subband coding. Based on the lifting scheme, algorithms for subband coding and reconstruction of signals are given, and the efficiency is investigated.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0968.00033].
