The author uses permutation groups and combinatorial arguments to study (a generalised version of) the following recreational math problem posed in a Hamburg weekly: Given a triangle in the plane and two further points on each side, label these nine points in such a way with the integers \(1,\dots,9\) that the sum of the squares along each of the three sides of the triangle is constant.
