Analytic number theory in China (English)
0 references
This is a brief survey of work in analytic number theory in China over the last 70 years, the period during which Hua Loo-keng was the dominating figure. He did pioneering work and also brought to prominence the work of several of his distinguished students, including Chen Jingrun, Pan Chengdong and the author himself. The survey covers only Hua's theorem on Gauss sums, his work on Waring's problem, particularly his inequality in the circle method, and Chen's celebrated theorem on the Goldbach conjecture.
