Knowledge discovery and measures of interest (English)

The book discusses the use of 16 diversity measures for ranking OLAP (On-Line Analytical Processing) aggregations (called `summaries' in the book). The aim is to present only ``the most interesting'' aggregations to the user.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe authors follow a two-step approach: first, computing all aggregations based on a given set of functional dependencies (called `domain generalization graph'); and second, ranking the results according to the measures discussed. The book would be easier to read if the definitions needed lens interpretation and if the relation-ship to database theory (esp. OLAP) were more explicit.
