The authors deal with oscillation criteria for second-order neutral functional-differential equations. They study the second-order differential equation NEWLINE\[NEWLINE (x(t)+p_1x(t-\tau_1)+p_2(t)X(t+\tau_2))''= q_1(t)x(t-\sigma_1) +q_2(t)x(t+\sigma_2)NEWLINE\]NEWLINE under the assumptionsNEWLINENEWLINENEWLINE(a) \(p_i,\tau_i,\sigma_i\) are positive constants; (b) \(q_i \in C(\mathbb{R}_{+},\mathbb{R}_{+})\), with \(\mathbb{R}_{+}=(0,\infty)\). NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThey prove a new oscillation criterion improving one given by \textit{S. R. Grace} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 184, No. 1, 44-55 (1994; Zbl 0803.34067)]. Some interesting applications are mentioned in the final part of the paper.
