The authors are concerned with the study of positive solutions \(u\) to the equation \(-\varepsilon^p \Delta_p u+V(x)u^{p-1}=u^{q-1}\) in the whole space \({\mathbb R}^N\), \(N>p\geq 2\), \(p<q<p^*=Np/(N-p)\). It is assumed that \(\varepsilon>0\), \(V\) is a continuous non-negative potential such that \(\lim\inf_{|x|\to\infty}V(x)>0\) and the zero set of \(V\) has nonempty interior. The main result of the paper establishes the existence of a sequence of solutions \(\{u_\varepsilon\}\) concentrated near the set consisting of disjoint components of the zero set of \(V\).
