Generation of magnetic field in the Couette-Taylor system (English)
0 references
The authors present preliminar results on the dynamo effect in Couette-Taylor system. It is assumed that the dynamo effect comes in as a secondary bifurcation after the Taylor vortex. The authors determine the values of inner Reynolds number for which the induction equation (considered as a linear operator) has eigenvalues on imaginary axis. It is observed that the characteristic length of dynamo field generated by Taylor cells is of the same order as the characteristic length of velocity field, and this indicates that the critical magnetic Reynolds number cannot be decreased by increasing the size of the system.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 0973.00055].
