Effective elastic moduli of an isotropic medium weakened by identically oriented disk-shaped cracks (English)

The author discusses an approach to the investigation of the efficient elastic moduli of isotropic medium containing a system of plane parallel cracks. It is proposed to use a generalized periodic structural model and to reduce the model boundary value problems to the system of linear algebraic equations. Exact finite expressions for all components of the efficient elasticity tensor are obtained by integrating the stresses within the structural cell. Numerical results are presented which illustrate the effect of crack distribution on the efficient rigidity of the cracked body. A comparison with the well-known approximate theories is carried out.
