Given a real vector space \(V\) of dimension \(n+1\) equipped with a regular symmetric bilinear form \(f\) of signature \((n,1)\). Let \(O_{n,1}\) denote the associated orthogonal group and \(O^+_{n,1}\) the subgroup consisting of all orthogonal transformations that preserve the two components of the `inner cone' \(\{v\in V:f(v,v)< 0\}\)).NEWLINENEWLINEIf \(L\subseteq V\) is a lattice then \(O^+(L):=\{\varphi \in O^+_{n,1}:\varphi (L)=L\}\) is a cofinite discrete group.NEWLINENEWLINEFor certain pairs of cofinite discrete reflection groups \(\Gamma _1, \Gamma _2\subseteq O^+_{n,1}\), \textit{M. Gromov} and \textit{I. I. Piatetski-Shapiro} [Publ. Math., Inst. Hautes Étud. Sci. 66, 93--103 (1988; Zbl 0649.22007)] gave a construction which supplies a non-arithmetic cofinite discrete group \(\Gamma \subseteq O^+_{n,1}\).NEWLINENEWLINEUsing these ideas, the article describes a systematic way to obtain non-arithmetic cofinite discrete reflection groups and provides examples for all \( n\leq 12\) and \(n=14,18\).
