Electromagnetic eigenfields in checkerboard patterns (Q2804345)

This paper deals with the analysis of time-harmonic electromagnetic fields in checkerboard patterns. Problems of this type arise in computational electromagnetics. The main abstract results in the present paper establish regularity properties and relations between strong and weak solutions in the framework of a periodic structure and corresponding to a pattern enclosed by an electric conductor. In the final part, the solutions of weak eigenproblems are approximated by using spectral element methods.
