On geometry of the (generalized) \(G_2\)-manifolds (English)
0 references
In this paper the authors investigate a spinorial approach to \(G_2\)-manifolds. As a holonomy group, \(G_2\) appeared first in Berger's classification of all possible holonomy groups in 1955. Manifolds with \(G_2\)-holonomy were constructed only much later. They received recently new attention due to their conjectured role in 11-dimensional supergravitation theories.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEAfter a short introduction, the paper under consideration consists of two main parts: Section 2 deals with \(G_2\)-structures, Section 3 with generalized \(G_2\)-structures. Preferring an explicit treatment, the authors show technical prowess, establishing most results by explicit (sometimes quite involved) computations.
