This paper presents a numerical method for solving the complex Helmholtz equation \(\Delta u + \kappa^2 u = 0\) in the unit square with mixed boundary conditions of Dirichlet and Robin type. The method is based on an expansion of the solution \(u\) into the orthogonal Legendre wavelets and truncation of the resulting series. The paper recalls the Legendre wavelets and their properties, presents several results about the convergence of the Legendre wavelets expansions, and describes in detail the application of this method to the Helmholtz equation. The paper is concluded by numerical examples illustrating the accuracy of the method.
