Some identities and series involving arithmetic and geometric progressions in \textit{Pāṭīgaṇitam, Gaṇitasārasaṅgrahaḥ} and \textit{Gaṇitakaumudī} (English)
0 references
The article under review discusses identities from three Indian mathematical texts of mediaeval times, namely \textit{Pāṭīgaṇitam, Gaṇitasārasaṅgrahaḥ} and \textit{Gaṇitakaumudī}. These three texts written by Srīdhara, Mahāvīra and Nārāyana Pandita respectively contain numerous formulas related to arithmetic and geometric progressions, some of which the author lists in this article with little or no commentary. Even though the context is clear to a mathematical audience, still the formulas mentioned in the first section should have been made explicit as they are referred to later in the article. To make the article more self-contained the author could also have added a few remarks from his earlier works which are referred in between the discussion.
