The paper presents a class of 2-step explicit symmetric P-stable predictor-corrector methods for solving second order initial value problems. The proposed methods modify a previous approach by \textit{Q. Li} and \textit{X. Wu} [Appl. Math. Comput. 138, No. 2--3, 435--442 (2003; Zbl 1042.65056)] and have convergence orders four and six. Four numerical examples conclude the paper, demonstrating the effectiveness of the proposed method.
