Let \(X\) be a real vector space. A function \(N:X \times \mathbb R \to [0,1]\) is called a fuzzy norm on \(X\) if for all \(x,y \in X\) and all \(s,t \in \mathbb R\), NEWLINE{\parindent=10mm NEWLINE\begin{itemize}NEWLINE\item[(\(N_1\))] \(N(x,t)=0\) for \(t \leq 0\); NEWLINE\item[(\(N_2\))] \(x=0\) if and only if \(N(x,t)=1\) for all \(t>0\); NEWLINE\item[(\(N_3\))] \(N(cx,t)=N(x,t/|c|)\) if \(c \neq 0\); NEWLINE\item[(\(N_4\))] \(N(x+y,s+t) \geq \min{N(x,s),N(y,t)}\); NEWLINE\item[(\(N_5\))] \(N(x,\cdot)\) is a non-decreasing function of \(\mathbb R\) and \(\lim_{t \to \infty} N(x,t)=1\); NEWLINE\item[(\(N_6\))] for \(x \neq 0\), \(N(x,\cdot)\) is continuous in \(\mathbb R\). NEWLINE\end{itemize}}NEWLINEThe pair \((X,N)\) is called a fuzzy normed space.NEWLINENEWLINEA sequence \(\{x_n \}\) in \((X,N)\) is said convergent to \(x\) if \(\lim_{n \to \infty} N(x_n-x,t)=1\) for all \(t>0\). A sequence \(\{x_n \}\) is called Cauchy if for each \(\varepsilon>0\) and each \(t>0\) there exists an \(n_0\) such that for all \(n \geq n_0\) and all \(p>0\), we have \(N(x_{n+p}-x_n,t)>1-\varepsilon\).NEWLINENEWLINEIf every Cauchy sequence is convergent, the fuzzy normed space is called fuzzy Banach space.NEWLINENEWLINEIn the framework of fuzzy Banach spaces, the authors prove the stability in the sense of Hyers-Ulam of the additive-quadratic \(\rho\)-functional inequalities NEWLINE\[CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE N(M_1f(x,y),t)\geq N(\rho M_2f(x,y),t) CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE\]NEWLINE and NEWLINE\[CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE N(M_2f(x,y),t)\geq N(\rho M_1f(x,y),t) CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE\]NEWLINE where NEWLINE\[CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE M_1f(x,y):=\frac{3}{4}f(x+y)-\frac{1}{4}f(-x-y)+\frac{1}{4}f(x-y)+\frac{1}{4}f(y-x)-f(x)-f(y) CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE\]NEWLINE and NEWLINE\[CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE M_2f(x,y):=2f(\frac{x+y}{2})+f(\frac{x-y}{2})+f(\frac{y-x}{2})-f(x)-f(y). CARRIAGE_RETURNNEWLINE\]NEWLINE As a first step they prove that the odd solutions of both inequalities are the Cauchy additive mappings and the even solutions with \(f(0)=0\) are quadratic mappings. Then, by using the well-known direct method the Hyers-Ulam stability is proved.NEWLINENEWLINEThe authors quote Găvruta as the first who replaced the unbounded Cauchy difference by a general control function in a paper appeared in 1994, forgetting that the reviewer published a more general result in [\textit{G. L. Forti}, ``An existence and stability theorem for a class of functional equations'', Stochastica 4, No. 1, 23--30 (1980; Zbl 0442.39005)].NEWLINENEWLINE Editorial remark: This paper is virtually identical with [\textit{S. J. Lee} and \textit{J. P. Seo}, J. Korean Soc. Math. Educ., Ser. B, Pure Appl. Math. 23, No. 2, 163--179 (2016; Zbl 1390.39092)] which is not listed in the list of references.
