A smooth projective surface \(X\) defined over a field \(k\) is a del Pezzo surface if the anticanonical divisor \(-\omega _{X}\) is ample. The degree \(d\) of a del Pezzo surface \(X\) is the self-intersection number of the canonical divisor and is between 1 and 9. A del Pezzo surface contains finite number of -1 curves. A del Pezzo surface \(X\) defined over \(k\) splits over \(k\) if all the -1 curves of \(X\) are rational over \(k\). A split del Pezzo surface \(X\) over a finite field \(\mathbb{F}_{q}\) is a full Del Pezzo surface if every point in \(X(\mathbb{F}_{q})\) lies on a -1 curve. The main result of the paper under review is the following partial classification of full Del Pezzo surfaces of degree two over a finite field of odd characteristic.NEWLINENEWLINETheorem 5. Let \(X_{2}\) be a full degree two del Pezzo surface over \(\mathbb{F}_{q}\) where \(q\) is odd. Then \(9 \leq q \leq 37\) and up to isomorphismNEWLINENEWLINE(i) There is a unique \(X_{2}\) defined over \(\mathbb{F}_{9}\) and \(\mathbb{F}_{11}\);NEWLINENEWLINE(ii) There are two \(X_{2}\)'s defined over \(\mathbb{F}_{13}\);NEWLINENEWLINE(iii) There are six \(X_{2}\)'s defined over \(\mathbb{F}_{17}\);NEWLINENEWLINE(iv) there are five \(X_{2}\)'s defined over \(\mathbb{F}_{19}\);NEWLINENEWLINE(v) There are at least two \(X_{2}\)'s defined over \(\mathbb{F}_{23}\).NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1345.11003].
