      Let \({\mathbf r}\in {\mathbb C}^d\). The \(d\)-dimensional Gaussian shift radix system associated to \({\mathbf r}\) is the map \({\gamma}_{\mathbf r}: {\mathbb Z}[i]^d\mapsto {\mathbb Z}[i]^d\) given by NEWLINE\[NEWLINE \gamma_{\mathbf r}(a_1,\ldots,a_d)=(a_2,\ldots,a_{d-1}, - \lfloor {\mathbf r} {\mathbf a}\rfloor), NEWLINE\]NEWLINE where \({\mathbf r}{\mathbf a}=r_1 a_1+\cdots+a_d r_d\) and \(\lfloor {\mathbf z}\rfloor=\lfloor {\text{\text Re}}(z)\rfloor +i\lfloor {\text{\text Im}}(z)\rfloor\in {\mathbb Z}[i]\). Let \({\mathcal G}_d^{(0)}\) be the set of \({\mathbf r}\in {\mathbb C}\) such that the orbit of any \({\mathbf a}\in {\mathbb Z}[i]^d\) under iterating the map \({\gamma}_{\mathbf r}\) contains \({\mathbf 0}\). In the present paper the author offers a conjecture as to what region \({\mathcal G}_1^{(0)}\) is. Let \({\mathcal G}_{C}\) be the author's conjectured region. He proves that \({\mathcal G}_1^{(0)}\subset {\mathcal G}_{C}\) and that the traces of \({\mathcal G}_C\) and \({\mathcal G}_1^{(0)}\) on the disk \(D:=\{z: | z| \leq 2047/2048\}\) coincide. The proof is highly algorithmic and computational. He also computes the area and the circumference of \({\mathcal G}_C\). The region \({\mathcal G}_1^{(0)}\) has been named Pethő's Loudspeaker in honor of Attila Pethő and because of its shape.
