Separation of two-component mixture in electric field (English)

A mathematical model of capillary zonal electrophoresis is investigated. At the non-diffusion approximation, this problem is presented by a system of quasilinear equations, either hyperbolic ones or parabolic ones. The Riemann invariant is used and the evolution of the initial profile is studied for the hyperbolic case. The interaction of two shock waves and the interaction of a shock wave with a rarefaction wave are described.
