The authors study the free internal gravity waves of small amplitude in a continuously stratified sea of constant depth. The still water density is assumed to depend on the depth only. Equations and boundary conditions of the internal waves dynamics are described at the ``hard cover'' approximation. Numerical calculations demonstrate the amplification of the short-period internal waves near the Brunt-Väisälä frequency. Conditions of existence of non-typical internal waves for stratifications with density inversions are obtained.
