The textbook is devoted to applications of difference and differential equations in queueing theory. It is divided into five chapters and basic knowledge of the calculus is required to comprehend it.NEWLINENEWLINEIn Chapter 1, foundations of the theory of probability and statistics are given. In Chapter 2, some transformations (such as Fourier, Laplace, \(\mathcal{Z}\)-transform) and probability generating functions are studied. Chapter 3 is focused on the theory of differential equation (separable, linear, exact, second order, partial difference equations). Similarly, the theory of linear difference equations with constant coefficients, their systems, nonlinear equations, and differential-difference equations is described in Chapter 4. Finally, the applications in the queueing theory are established in Chapter 5. In particular, a single-server Markovian queue, a multiserver parallel queue, many-server parallel queues with feedback or with balking and reneging, and a single-server Markovian queueing system with splitting and delayed feedback are studied. Tables with values of some probability distributions are given in the appendix. Several solved examples and many exercises are included in every chapter.
