Numerical study of the static contact angle hysteresis in the presence of periodic defects (English)
0 references
In this paper the static hysteresis interval of the observable contact angles is studied numerically. The hysteresis interval is obtained on the basis of exact solutions for meniscus, which forms when a vertical heterogeneous solid plate is partially immersed in a tank of liquid. The authors present two definitions for the receding and advancing contact angles. They obtain that the second hysteresis interval in contained in the first one.Numerical algorithm is developed and simulations illustrate the results.
