The author considers the time value of money of a continuous review inventory model with a mixture of backorders and lost sales, where lead time demand has a normal distribution. He finds the optimal order quantity and optimal lead time of the total expected annual costs at all lengths of lead times with components crashed to their minimum duration, and constructs a process for an optimal solution.
