Steady water waves in the presence of wind (English)
      0 references
By bifurcation theory methods the authors prove the existence for small amplitude steady two-dimensional water waves on the surface of the inviscid, irrotational water layer over the flat bottom at the presence of wind in the air above. The Kelvin-Helmholtz model presented in [\textit{P. G. Drazin} and \textit{W. H. Reid}, Hydrodynamic Stability. Cambridge: Cambridge University Press (2004; Zbl 1055.76001)] is used, which is characterized by the jump in tangential velocity across the air-water interface, involving instability and creating growing modes, and as result the traveling waves, according to the results in [\textit{J. W. Miles}, J. Fluid Mech. 3, 185--204 (1957; Zbl 0078.40705); J. Fluid Mech. 6, 568--582 (1959; Zbl 0092.44102)]. The air has a constant velocity (a general vorticity profile) for infinite layer (for a finite layer of lidded atmosphere). The time-dependent problem will be considered in future work.
