Security codes in railway interlocking systems. (English)
0 references
This article is focused on communication security in railway interlocking systems. In particular, the attention is concentrated on the influence of random errors on the security of communications. The important means of secure communication are security codes. The significant attribute of safety code is the probability of an undetected error. The problem of calculation of this value is solved and mathematical relations of the value calculation are derived in this paper. The authors show the use of linear binary codes and how to determine undetected error probability as well. The binary symmetrical channel is shown as a most frequently used model of the information transmission in practice. The probability of undetected error is described specifically for this system. The problem of ``good'' and ``proper'' codes are also discussed. Current trends in railway communication safety are listed at the end of the article. The railway signalling systems are important area of practical use of secure codes. The article is written clearly for wider professional public.
