Asymptotic shapes of shock curves for some critical cases (English)
0 references
The authors consider the Cauchy problem for the scalar conservation law \(u_t+f(u)_x=0\) with strictly convex flux function \(f(u)\). They study the asymptotic shapes of right-most shock curves in the critical case when \(\Phi(\infty)=\inf\Phi(y)\), where \(\Phi(y)\) is the antiderivative of initial data. It turns out that the asymptotic shapes of shock curves are \(o(\sqrt{t})\) instead of \(O(\sqrt{t})\) known in the Lax case \(\Phi(\infty)>\inf\Phi(y)\). The theoretical results are illustrated by examples.
