The author first introduces projective and free objects as derivative notions of the concept of a rigged category and then describes the free objects in the context of classical normed and Banach modules. He studies injectivity and cofreeness, introduces these notions in the framework of rigged categories and characterizes the cofree classical modules using some general categorical observations. He introduces a rigged category which is suitable for working with metrically projective quantum spaces and describes its free objects. He finally shows that the notion of an extremally projective module in both classical and quantum versions, together with the results concerning the characterization of these modules, can be included in the general scheme of an asymptotic category.
