This research monograph presents a comprehensive study of boundary value problems for linear and semilinear second order elliptic equations with measure data, a field in which both authors have been very active.NEWLINENEWLINEThe first chapeter contains a presentation of linear second order elliptic equations with meaure data. The second chapter is devoted to the semilinear elliptic problem \(-\Delta u+g(x,u)=f\) in \(\Omega\), \(u=h\) on \(\partial\Omega\), where \(f,h\) are \(L^1\) functions, or more generally, measures. Chapter 3 of the monograph deals with the boundary trace problem for the equation \(-\Delta u+g(x,u)=0\). The basic model for the study in this chapter is the boundary trace theory for positive harmonic functions due to Herglotz. Chapter 4 is concerned with isolated singularities whicle Chapter five focusses on classical theory of maximal and large solutions. Finally, the last chapter of the book presents further results on singularities and large solutions. These include: the limit of fundamental solutions when the mass tends to infinity; symmetry of large solutions; higher order terms in the asymptotics of large solutions and their connection with the geometry of the domain. NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEThe book is self-contained and it is highly recommended to researchers and graduate students with a background in Real Analysis and Partial Differential Equations.
