An \(R\)-module \(M\) is \textit{quasi-Baer} if the right annihilator of any 2-sided ideal of the ring \(\text{End}_R(M)\) is a direct summand of \(M\). The authors give conditions which allow for the quasi-Baer property of the endomorphism ring of a module to transfer back to the module and fully characterize when a direct sum of arbitrary quasi-Baer modules is quasi-Baer. They show that: 1) a module \(M\) is quasi-Baer if and only if \(\text{End}_R(M)\) is a quasi-Baer ring and \(M\) is \(q\)-local-retractable and; 2) \(M=\oplus_{i\in I}M_i\) is a quasi-Baer module if and only if each \(M_i\) is a quasi-Baer module and the class \(\{M_i\}_{i\in I}\) is relatively p.q.-Baer. Several examples are given to delimit and delineate the theory.
