Convergence of discontinuous time-stepping schemes for a Robin boundary control problem under minimal regularity assumptions (English)

An optimal control problem associated with the minimization of the energy functional constrained to semi-linear partial differential equation and Robin boundary controls is discretized using discontinuous time-stepping Galerkin schemes. For space discretization, continuous finite elements are used. Because the discontinuous Galerkin time-stepping schemes perform well under low regularity conditions, they are suitable for optimal control problems with the rough initial data and forcing term. The discrete optimality system is derived and the convergence of the discrete solution to the continuous solution is shown.
