It is well known that singular integral operators like, e.g., the Picard, Gauss-Weierstrass, or Poisson-Cauchy operator can be used to approximate the identity operator on various spaces of functions. This book summarizes a number of papers written by the book's authors on the topic, mainly dealing with the question of the convergence behaviour of such approximations, but also addressing questions like related asymptotic expansions or simultaneous approximation.
