This is an excellent introductory small book to the method of complex integration with applications in analytic number theory. It is ideal for a graduate or postgraduate course.NEWLINENEWLINEThe book starts with some notes about multiplicative functions and products of Dirichlet series. Chapter 2 discusses summatory functions and Perron's formula. Chapters 3, 4 and 5 present Riemann's zeta-function, the functional equation of zeta-function, zeros of the Riemann zeta-function and the asymptotic distribution law of the prime numbers The last chapter introduces Voronoi's formula and proves the Dirichlet divisor problem with error term in the form \(O(x^{1/3+\varepsilon})\), where \(\varepsilon\) is an arbitrary small positive number.NEWLINENEWLINEEach chapter concludes with several exercises which should help the reader in gaining a better understanding.
