The essential spectrum of conjugate self-adjoint operators (English)
0 references
In this paper, the author studies a class of non-self-adjoint operators, i.e., conjugate self-adjoint operators. For these operators, the author proves three important results. A first theorem characterizes the compactness of a conjugate sel-fadjoint operator. The two other theorems characterize the discreteness of the spectrum and the essential spectrum of a conjugate self-adjoint operator, respectively. In particular, some applications of those results to differential operators are given.
