For relativistic plasmas in a uniform external magnetic field the dispersion relation (DR) is studied. The DR is determined formerly, the authors make use of the previous results of \textit{R. Schlickeiser} in his book [Cosmic ray astrophysics. Berlin-Heidelberg: Springer, (2002; \url{doi:bfm:978-3-662-04814-6/1}) as starting point and a paper by \textit{R. C. Tautz} et al. [J. Math. Phys. 48, No. 1, 013302, 25 p. (2007; Zbl 1121.82040)]. The modification in the derivation of the DR is done by Schlickeiser in his book to take into account the relativistic effects correctly. The manipulations with the correct formula are shown to contain a set of forms involving Bessel functions. These expressions now are all given in forms containing only one Bessel function, as a consequence of the authors' and Schlickeiser's results. This reduces the intricate structure of expressions in the DR. Using this procedure, the DR is remarkably simplified, though it remains intricate enough. This may explain, why here the limiting cases are mentioned. The further approach is based on splitting the susceptibility tensor into anisotropic and isotropic parts. The discussion focuses on the case where the isotropic part of this tensor is negligible. Special cases are mentioned for the large refractive index, the recovery of the the longitudinal and transverse DT is obtained and the mode coupling is investigated, showing that this check is made a posteriori, concluding the feasibility of the process (but calling attention to the fact that the calculations for higher approximations become soon very cumbersome). At the end, general arguments are given for the case of weak coupling between various modes.NEWLINENEWLINE The analysis of the whole DR underlines that the evaluation does not restrict itself to any special form of the dispersion function, and special attention is paid to the growth of unstable modes with directions relative to the ambient magnetic field.
