Discrete wavelet transform of finite signals: detailed study of the algorithm (English)
      0 references
An elegant approach on the discrete time wavelet transform for finite signals is proposed. Different limitations on existing algorithms are resolved, such as: 1) the numbers of wavelet coefficients are required to compute the signal at different levels of the decomposition; 2) the number of samples are entail for a one single wavelet coefficient at the different depth of the decomposition, and 3) the number of coefficients at a given depth of the ecomposition are affected by the choice of the boundary treatment and so on. Further, a new method for wavelet filters padding is addressed. Moreover, theorems and examples are presented to support the proposed algorithms.
