Convergence analysis of a coupled method for time-dependent convection-diffusion equations (English)
      0 references
The convergence analysis of a method that couples finite volume (FV) and discontinuous Galerkin (DG) in a domain decomposition setting is proposed and analyzed here for a transport equation (cf. ([\textit{B. Rivière} and \textit{M. Wheeler}, Comput. Geosci. 6, No. 3--4, 269--284 (2002; Zbl 1023.76022)]; [\textit{R. D. Lazarov} et al., in: Finite volumes for complex applications II. Problems and perspectives. Papers from the 2nd international conference, Duisburg, July 19--22, 1999. Paris: Hermes Science Publications 51--68 (1999; Zbl 1052.65554)])). It is also demonstrated that the numerical results confirm the theoretical rates of convergence. The efficiency and accuracy of the hybrid method is compared with those of the FV method and of the DG method used separately in the whole computational domain.
