The paper under review deals with Kropina spaces in the framework of Finsler geometry [\textit{R. Yoshikawa} and \textit{S. Sabau}, Geom. Dedicata 171, 119--148 (2014; Zbl 1301.53076)], [\textit{R. Yoshikawa} and \textit{K. Okubo}, Balkan J. Geom. Appl. 17, No. 1, 115--124 (2012; Zbl 1284.53026)].NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFirst, the authors discuss whether a Kropina space is a Berwald space. The answer is given in terms of the navigation data of the Kropina space [\textit{R. Yoshikawa}, \textit{K. Okubo} and \textit{M. Matsumoto}, Tensor, New Ser. 65, No. 3, 277--290 (2004; Zbl 1165.53332)].NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINETheorem: A Kropina space \(\left( M, \alpha^2 / \beta\right)\) with navigation data \((h,W)\) is a Berwald space if and only if the vector field \(W\) is parallel w.r.t. the Levi-Civita connection of \((M, h)\).NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEMoreover, it is shown that \(\left( M, \alpha^2 / \beta\right)\) is a weakly Berwald space if and only if the vector field \(W\) on \((M, h)\) is Killing [\textit{S. Bacso} and \textit{R. Yoshikawa}, Publ. Math. 61, No. 1-2, 219--231 (2002; Zbl 1006.53022)].NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINENext, the authors analyze whether a Kropina space has scalar flag curvature depending only on the position, the answer is also given in terms of the navigation data. As a corollary, it is shown that a Kropina space, whose scalar flag curvature depends only on the position, is a Berwald space if and only if its scalar flag curvature is vanishing.NEWLINENEWLINENEWLINEFinally, given a Kropina space \(\left( M, \alpha^2 / \beta\right)\)with navigation data \((h, W)\), it is demonstrated that \(W\) is a Killing vector field on \(\left( M, \alpha^2 / \beta\right)\) if and only if \(W\) is a Killing vector field on \((M,h)\). This reveals intimate relations between local Finslerian isometries of \(\left(M, \alpha^2 / \beta\right)\) and local Riemannian isometries of \((M,h)\).
