Let \(\mathcal B(\text{h})\) be the von Neumann algebra of all bounded operators on a complex separable Hilbert space \(\text{h}\) and \({\mathcal T}=\{{\mathcal T}\}_{t\geq 0}\) be a weakly\(^*\) continuous semigroup of normal, completely positive maps on \(\mathcal B(\text{h})\) such that \({\mathcal T}{\mathbf 1}={\mathbf 1}\) (quantum Markov semigroup). It is assumed that \(\mathcal T\) has a faithful normal invariant state \(\rho\) and generator is represented in a generalised Gorini-Kossakowski-Sudarshan-Lindblad form NEWLINE\[NEWLINE{\mathcal L}(x) =-{1 \over 2}\sum\limits_\ell\left(L^*_\ell L_\ell x-2L^*_\ell x L_\ell+xL^*_\ell L_\ell\right)+i[H,x]NEWLINE\]NEWLINE with possibly unbounded \(H\) and \(L_\ell\). The \textit{decoherence-free} subalgebra \({\mathcal N}({\mathcal T})\) of \(\mathcal T\) is defined as the (biggest) sub\(^*\)-algebra of \(x\in \mathcal B(\text{h})\) such that NEWLINE\[NEWLINE{\mathcal T}_t(x^*x)= {\mathcal T}_t(x^*){\mathcal T}_t(x), {\mathcal T}_t(xx^*)= {\mathcal T}_t(x){\mathcal T}_t(x^*), \forall t\geq 0.NEWLINE\]NEWLINE The authors show that \({\mathcal N}({\mathcal T})\) coincides with the generalised commutator of NEWLINE\[NEWLINE\left\{e^{-itH}L_\ell e^{itH}, e^{-itH}L_\ell^* e^{itH}\mid\ell\geq 1, t\geq 0\right\}NEWLINE\]NEWLINE under some natural regularity conditions. Similar results have been proved in the previous paper of the authors (see [Infin. Dimens. Anal. Quantum Probab. Relat. Top. 13, No. 3, 413--433 (2010; Zbl 1209.46041)]), but the proof in the paper under review does not involve dilations \(\mathcal T\). As a corollary simple algebraic conditions for convergence towards an invariant state is obtained.NEWLINENEWLINEFor the entire collection see [Zbl 1238.81004].
