Two results for the terminating \({}_3F_2(2)\) with applications (Q2890355)

For the Clausenian function \({_3F_2}[b,a,d+ 1;2a+ 1,d; z]\) the authors, by long series manipulations, establish (1) a quadratic transformation with two terms on the right-hand side, and (2) a summation formula for \(z=2\) in the polynomial case \(-b\in\mathbb{N}_0\). The latter result is used in a subsequent proof of a reduction formula expressing a special Kampé de Fériet function \(F^{h:2;0}_{g:2;0}\) with variables \((x,-{1\over 2}x)\) as a linear combination of two \({_{2h}F_{2g+1}}\)'s with variable \(2^{2h-2g-4} x^2\).
