Non periodic solutions of fourth order nonlinear equations (English)

The author considers a non-periodic boundary value problem for a fourth-order nonlinear ordinary differential equation. The cases of continuous and measurable fourth derivative (classical and weak solutions, respectively) are studied. Some assumptions on the sign of the nonlinearity are made. Conditions (sufficient or necessary) for the existence of a solution are found.
