How to refine polynomial functions (English)
0 references
Research on refinable functions in wavelet theory is mostly focused on localized functions. It is known that polynomial functions are refinable, too. This paper explores the refinement of polynomial functions in detail, including how to find a mask that refines a polynomial function and what is the characterization of masks that refine polynomial functions, and what polynomial functions can be refined by a given mask. It solves these problems well. Besides, similar to a cascade algorithm that calculates the refinable functions of bounded support approximately, a cascade algorithm that computes the polynomial that is refined by a mask is provided. This work is valuable for the study of refinable polynomial functions.
