The author discusses the focal decomposition of a hyperbolic and analytic surface which determines an analytic Whitney stratification of the tangent bundle. Then the following result is shown: Generically, closed hyperbolic surfaces of genus \(\geq 3\) which are focally equivalent, are isometric.
