The stability problem of functional equations originated from a question of \textit{S. M. Ulam} [A collection of mathematical problems. New York and London: Interscience Publishers (1960; Zbl 0086.24101)] concerning the stability of group homomorphisms. \textit{D. H. Hyers} [Proc. Natl. Acad. Sci. USA 27, 222--224 (1941; Zbl 0061.26403)] gave a first affirmative partial answer to the question of Ulam for Banach spaces.NEWLINENEWLINEUsing the direct method, the authors prove the Hyers-Ulam stability of quadratic double centralizers on Banach algebras for the system of the functional equations NEWLINE\[NEWLINEf(kx+y) + f(kx-y)=2k^2 f(x) + 2 f(y) \quad \text{and} \quad f(xy)=f(x)y^2NEWLINE\]NEWLINE for a fixed integer \(k\) greater than 1. The authors correct the results of \textit{M. Eshaghi Gordji} and \textit{A. Bodaghi} [J. Comput. Anal. Appl. 13, No. 4, 724--729 (2011; Zbl 1219.39015)] and prove the corrected results.
