The article under review provides a step toward the classification of normal complex affine varieties admitting a nontrivial action of the additive group \(\mathbb{G}_{a,\mathbb{C}}\). The main objects under consideration form a class of local models of a particular type for their associated algebraic quotient morphisms. More concretely, the article treats the situation of an affine threefold \(X\) endowed with a \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-action whose algebraic quotient morphism \(\pi:X\rightarrow X/\:/\mathbb{G}_{a}=S\) restricts to a principal \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-bundle over the complement of a closed point \(p\) in \(S\), so that \(\pi:X\rightarrow S\) can be viewed as affine extension of a principal \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-bundle \(P\rightarrow S_{*}\) over the punctured surface \(S_{*}=S\setminus\{p\}\). The discussion is divided into two main parts depending on whether or not \(P\rightarrow S_{*}\) is the trivial \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-bundle \(S_{*}\times\mathbb{G}_{a}\) over \(S_{*}\). In the first case, a description of the possible fibers \(\pi^{-1}(p)\) is given. In the second case, the study is reduced to that of extensions of the principal \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-bundle \(\mathrm{SL}_{2}\rightarrow\mathrm{SL}_{2}/\mathbb{G}_{a}\simeq\mathbb{A}^{2}\setminus\{(0,0)\}\) from which every nontrivial \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-bundle \(P\rightarrow S_{*}\) over a germ of punctured surface \(S_{*}=S\setminus\{p\}\) is induced by pull-back. Among other interesting sporadic examples, the author provides two explicit infinite families of affine extensions of \(\mathrm{SL}_{2}\) which are constructed from graded sub-algebras of the associated graded algebra of the coordinate ring of \(\mathrm{SL}_{2}\) for the natural filtration induced by the \(\mathbb{G}_{a}\)-action.
